Gaslight Theatre - July 28, 2019
On July 28th, 56 Model A members and guests congregated at the Gaslight Theatre for an evening of pizza, popcorn, bad puns, funny costumes, and, for some of us, an ice cream sundae. This year we watched the current production of SPACE TREK!
Once again, peace is in jeopardy. The evil villain Voltaire, ruler of Zantac, and his henchmen and henchwomen, team up conquer the Forbidden Zone. Captain Quick of the Space Ship Excelsior along with Princes Serena of Mylanta vow to return peace to the Forbidden Zone. This goal is complicated by the apparent betrayal of the Captain’s first mate, Mr Sprock. But as always at the Gaslight Thratre, good triumphs over evil. Interplanetary peace is restored, and of course, the hero and heroine get a smooch to celebrate. Good work if you can get it, huh Captain?
I think the actor playing the evil Voltaire did a better job in his roll than he may have thought. During intermission, our Granddaughter Evalyse crawled up onto Papaw’s lap and said she was afraid of the bad guy. Papaw protected her until the house lights went down. At that point, Papaw was not going to do. Only Mommy’s lap was safe enough. I also discovered Mr & Mrs Balcony center were lost and wondering around and sitting on the main floor. I think he is just not able to arrive ahead of the couple that always seems to be at the head of the line year after year. There was a rumor though, that someone else got there first but took pity on them, allowing them to take the head of the line.
As always, “a good time was had by all”. It was a fun show with lots of bad puns, and lame jokes. Just the ingredients for a laugh filled night. Laura and I hope all enjoyed the show as much as we did organizing the event. We wish to thank all who attended. We hope we see you and many more next year for another fun night at the Gaslight Theatre.
